BeyondChron: San Francisco’s Alternative Online Daily News » From Obama to Brown, Democrats Negotiate on Republican Terms
Brown’s persistence in seeking a deal with Republicans harkens back to President Obama’s squandering political momentum in 2009 by negotiating with conservative Republican Senators Chuck Grassley and Michael Enzi over a health care deal. As Democrats delay action in search of Republican support that never comes, Republicans like Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker ignore Democrats altogether to achieve conservative goals.

Jerry Brown was not alone in assuming that he could pry two Republicans in each legislative body to ensure a June 7 election, and that the consequences were too great for inaction. But it should have become clear to the Governor some time ago that this is not the Republican Party he dealt with in the 1970’s, and that causing a meltdown in public services is actually GOP legislators’ primary goal.

Maddow Gets Radio Silence On Michigan FOIA Questions (VIDEO) | TPMDC

White House Threatens To Veto Key Legislation Over Union Busting Provision | TPMDC
The House version of the legislation in question, which would reauthorize FAA programs, contains the anti-union provision. The Senate's version does not. Several House Republicans support stripping the measure from their bill. But House leadership, in concert with Delta Airlines and other anti-union advocates, have been pressing their members to toe party line and leave the language in place.

If they do, it would either have to be removed when the House and Senate resolve their differences in a conference committee, or face a veto.

New Progressive Group Aims To Close The Talent Gap Between Left And Right | TPMDC
It's hard to trace the different anatomies of the Democrats and Republicans and their aligned movements on the left and the right. But it's an unmistakable phenomenon in politics that across the country conservatives speak something close to a common political language in a way liberals do not. Operatives on the right are more often believers in conservative ideas — or at least willing to fight for them — than their counterparts on the left. NewDEAL hopes to close that gap.
