Middle Class Solidarity
This is an interesting labor fight and different than what's happened before. It's a middle class fight this time. I'm not sure the Republicans fully grasp what that means.

adsartha: Wisconsin link roundup
…The Wall Street Journal discusses the 2012 spending race…The Nation discusses why the right attacked the institutions it has…

The Daily Caller would like you to believe that we're getting widespread mainstream media coverage on this. And that protesters are exhibiting violence against Fox News reporters. And THE WORST SIN OF ALL, comparing Walker to dictators. … They also claim that, "Jesse Jackson rallied with protesters too, though the Wisconsin fight is about the state’s budget, rather than civil rights." …I hate to break it to them, but union rights ARE civil rights. Also, if there's so much mainstream media coverage, why is there a petition to get CNN to cover the protests? [link]

…a recording of Rep. Kelda Helen Roys (D) explaining … They're carding everyone…Roys is staying out of the Capitol in solidarity, even though she could use her ID to get in, because she feels this is illegitimate. If you missed it this morning, the court agreed with her…

Congress Looks to Investigate Anti-Terror Techniques Used on Americans by HBGary, Others
Hmmm. “Tactics developed for use on terrorists may have been unleashed against citizens.” That sounds like something I would have written about the HB Gary scandal. Twice [link].

It’s nice to see some members of Congress understand what the entire problem with this scandal is about.

Gadhafi Keeps Bombing Libyan People; Senators Counsel Go-Slow Approach
While Gadhafi continues to try to murder his own people, US and British forces moved closer to a showdown, including a potential military component. The contingency plans are in place for a no-fly zone at the very least, while Pentagon ships are in the area. But there is at least some opposition to the idea of an extended military commitment, and from some unlikely sources:…

Graham and Lugar have their own reasons and I don’t think they line up with my own. But anytime someone in Washington puts the brakes on empire, it’s worth noting.

Neocons Want More Blood
Following up on Heather's post [link] about McCain and Lieberman's desire for action against Libya, the neocons are starting to chant for more action. …a group of forty political analysts, including more than a dozen former officials of former President GW Bush, have posted a letter in the Foreign Policy Initiative website calling for President Obama to bring some "American exceptionalism" in the form of gunboat diplomacy to Libya. …

Yes, because our military was so successful in combat operations against Iraq and Afghanistan, why not just add another Arab nation to the list of "people we really didn't like anyway, and oh yeah, damn the massive projected spike in oil prices, full speed ahead." You will not be surprised to see that the list of characters is very similar to the original PNAC crowd, the ones who thought in 1998 that overthrowing Iraq through US unilateral force was such a great idea. …

REPORT: How Koch Industries Makes Billions By Demanding Bailouts And Taxpayer Subsidies
[Think Progress - Lee Fang]

Koch Industries, the international conglomerate owned by Charles and David Koch, is not only the second largest private company in America, it is the most politically active. As ThinkProgress has carefully documented over the last three years, Koch groups have spent tens of millions to influence government policy… In…the Wall Street Journal today, Koch Industries CEO Charles Koch fired back at his critics…

He chides special interests that have “successfully lobbied for special favors,” claiming “crony capitalism is much easier than competing in an open market.” …

[Ironic bullet points are ironic. -L]

Koch funds both socially conservative groups and socially liberal groups. However, Koch’s financing of front groups and political organizations all have one thing in common: every single Koch group attacks workers’ rights, promotes deregulation, and argues for radical supply side economics.

Facebook Now Powers Comments All Around the Web
According to a Facebook spokesperson, the new commenting system will be a quick install for publishers, with a single line of code. Sharing comments on Facebook will, of course, be seamless. This is probably the biggest impetus to use the system – comments made on the publisher's site or on Facebook itself will be displayed in both locations. The new commenting feature will also come with moderation controls so administrators can blacklist certain users and language.
