- DCCC Invested $3.3 Million in Rape-Redefining Democrats
- In a Republican-controlled House, it’s not shocking to see this kind of medieval treatment of women become a priority over, you know, job creation. But let’s focus on the Democrats involved in this travesty. Of HR3′s 173 co-sponsors in the House, 10 identify themselves as Democrats…
…it’s completely unacceptable for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) – the party apparatus whose sole purpose is to help elect Democrats to the House – to grandstand against HR3′s redefinition of rape with petitions blaming “the GOP for their bill.” …
Here’s a look at who the DCCC’s favorite rape-redefining Democrats are… Major, major props to Sady Doyle for pointing out this hypocrisy…
The DCCC should not say a word about Republicans and HR3 until it denounces its own members who support the same.
- Red-lining the Blue States
- If you are buying a house in a Blue State the president of AIG doesn't want your business. He thinks you are a parasite…
Just a reminder, here's a nice table showing how much money each state gets back for each dollar it sends to the federal government.
[In short: the Blue States pay taxes at a net loss, while Red States get a net gain. Who's the parasite, again? -L]
My advice is that all people in Blue States and liberals everywhere do everything in their power to use a mortgage insurer other than AIG. It has a bad track record and is run by someone who has no respect for his customers.

- Protesters Are Awesome: Look at This Beautiful Photo of Christians Protecting Praying Muslims in Egypt
- [GOOD - Cord Jefferson]
Depicted in this photo, an image from an anonymous source on the ground in Egypt, is a team of Egyptian Christians forming a massive human shield to protect their Muslim countrymen as they prayed during the violent protests…
Update: The woman behind this photo is said to be Egyptian Nevine Zaki.
- Welcome to the 21st Century
- [Talking Points Memo - Josh Marshall]
Did you know that Egypt has the 16th largest population in the world? I knew Egypt had a very large population. And at least recently I knew it had a population of around 80 million. But 16th largest sort of blew my mind.
Here's the list of the top 15 countries above Egypt …
[Damn, I feel like an ugly American. One of the entries on this list made my eyes bug out. -L]

As late as the 1960s, women's rights advocates were still fighting to end sex discrimination in jury selection.
- Protecting Life? New Bill Says Its OK to Let Women Die
- [RHRealityCheck.org - Jodi Jacobson]
One hundred members of Congress (so far) have cosponsored a bill introduced by far right Congressman Joe Pitts (R-PA) called the "Protect Life Act." (See if yours is one of them below.)
…Yesterday, according to a report by NARAL Pro-Choice America, lawmakers inserted the new provision onto page six of H.R.358, a bill that is already jam-packed with misogynistic anti-choice and anti-woman provisions…
In short: Fertilized eggs are people; women are not.
- New bill will let doctors refuse to save the lives of pregnant women
- [Feministe - Jill]
Sometimes there really aren’t words for what passes as “pro-life” in the United States. The “Protect Life Act” overrides the requirement that ER doctors treat every patient and do what’s necessary to save the patient’s life…
It’s not surprising that a few religious blow-hards think it’s better for women to die instead of receiving therapeutic abortions, but to encode the view that you don’t have to save a pregnant woman’s life into federal law? That is truly sick…
Also? It’s not like letting the pregnant woman die saves the fetus, so there’s no “protecting life” here.
[In case it needs to be said: I don't agree with every word of everything I link to. Signal boosts are awesome! --L.]
