- Fox’s Megyn Kelly Pretends Her Fellow Fox Hosts Have Never Invoked Nazi Imagery
- [Crooks and Liars - Heather]
While attacking Rep. Steve Cohen for his truthful statement that the GOP has indeed used the same tactics employed by Nazi propagandist Joseph Goebbels, Fox's Megyn Kelly argued with former Clinton adviser Richard Socarides that Fox News hasn't ever had any of their hosts invoking Nazi and Holocaust imagery. - Brown Pleads With Skeptical Cities
- Part of Brown's realignment plan is to devolve some power (and money) to the city and county level, but [the local officials] aren't so sure it's going to happen.

…one of the great untold stories of the last election is the one in which Republicans [rant] against Democrats for "cutting Medicare." Aside from "Obama's socialism" it was their only real issue of the campaign… [video video video]
Any Democrats who think that the Republicans will not run "independent" expenditure ads against them for cutting social security are delusional.
[I expect they'll do it whether the Dems cut the social safety net or not, but it would be nice if the Dems had a truthful rebuttal up their sleeve. -L]
…If [the Dems] decide to throw this on the fire in the name of appeasing the imaginary bond vigilantes…then the party will have pretty much talked itself out of its raison d'etre.
…these Third Way centrists [link] can call themselves "progressive" all they want, but it won't make it so…If you're a 55 year old who liked losing all your money in the stock market and real estate crashes, you'll love [their] plan.
- Building Bike Paths Is Great for the Economy
- [GOOD - Cord Jefferson]
…Americans might in fact look extremely kindly upon bike path infrastructure. That's because, in a nation still struggling with unemployment, building bike paths might just be a boon for jobs.
According to a study from last month called Estimating the Employment Impacts of Pedestrian, Bicycle, and Road Infrastructure, building bike paths actually creates twice as many jobs per dollar spent as fixing roads.bike path jobs
This disparity, researchers say, comes from the fact that making bike paths is heavy on labor but light on equipment, whereas repairing roads is just the opposite.
[It also makes it easier for poor people to get to their jobs cheaply, which means more opportunities for them to achieve financial independence. -L]

…the immediate reaction of the left to the shooting was not shock or surprise or disbelief…
…if they’re honest, this was the reaction on the right as well — which is why Sarah Palin’s staffers spent the hours following Loughner’s shooting spree pulling down inconvenient photos from Palin’s site…
Loughner’s politics ended up being more complex than simply being a tea partier… his apparent mental illness makes his true motivations rather more opaque than those of his predecessor in violence, Byron Williams.
What, the name Byron Williams doesn’t ring a bell?
…left and right both know that the [current] violence is situated on the right. [Because] right now, leading voices on the right…are lending their tacit and not-so-tacit support to the idea that violent revolution is not just acceptable, but desirable.
