Do people need nutrition? Wingnuts are skeptical.
Boyle decided to do an “investigation” into what he believes is a scandalous fact about food stamps, which is you can buy food with them. Boyle’s investigative technique appears to have been to defraud the government by lying about his rent to get food stamps… and he got what he believes is a ridiculous $105 a month for food for a single man.

To prove how ridiculously high this is, he went to Whole Foods and spent $51.10 on a single meal.

"It’s Yer Money"
The Republicans are all over the TV and in the papers arguing that tax cuts have nothing to do with the deficit because the deficit is a problem that can only be fixed with spending cuts…

Maybe the Democrats should turn the GOP's stupid "family budget" trope back on them and say that the Republicans believe that every family should let their main breadwinner spend most of his money on a fancy and expensive cars while the rest of them live on Top Ramen and soda crackers — because "it's his money."

The Liberal Dilemma — they won’t kill hostages
[Hullabaloo - digby]

Kevin Drum wrote an interesting post yesterday about the Democrats' dilemma in dealing with a hardcore opposition that literally doesn't care if their policies cause human suffering. (Indeed, they actually promote it, only they call it "tough love".)

Speaker Pelosi and House Dems Block Wealthy Tax Bonus Plan
[Calitics - Brian Leubitz]

The tax plan, as written, would have piled another $2.7 billion or so onto the California budget deficit next year because of the way the the estate tax is handled…

[I need more context. -L]

The estate tax is one of the most common sense items in our whole arcane tax structure. After all, America, as a nation, was founded on anti-dynastic principle.

[Wish more people understood that. -L]

Leaked email shows Fox News boss tried to slant news
[Crooks and Liars - David]

According to the report at Media Matters, in August of 2009 after Fox News' Sean Hannity used the term "public option," Luntz encouraged him to say "government option" instead.

"If you call it a 'public option,' the American people are split," Luntz said. "If you call it the 'government option,' the public is overwhelmingly against it."

"It's a great point, and from now on, I'm going to call it the government option," Hannity replied.
