Another Study Proves What We Already Knew: Walkability Improves Quality of Life
[GOOD - Kyla Fullenwider]

We all know that walking is good for our health but a new study suggests that it may also be a key factor in quality of life. According to the report, walkability increases social capital-a measure of networks, connections, and community involvement- and as social capital increases so does one's quality of life…

And while it's unclear from this report whether the findings show a causal relationship or one that's correlational (maybe walkable neighborhoods are inherently more wealthy and wealthy residents generally healthier) the implications for all socio-economic groups are the same: Walking to your local post-office or library is good for your health and your happiness.

Supporting Skepticism
[NeuroLogica Blog - Steven Novella]

We are collectively trying to make our society and the world at large a more skeptical place, to raise the level of appreciation for science, logic, and reason and to counter the influences of superstition, mysticism, and fraud…

[I am of course all in favor of mysticism in its proper place, which is to say each person cultivating their own spirituality to make their lives better and to help them be kind to others... -L]

…The James Randi Educational Foundation (JREF) has their year end fund-raising campaign, the Season of Reason. This year they have an anonymous donor who will match any donations up to $100,000…

Another non-profit skeptical organization deserving of support is the Committee for Skeptical Inquiry (CSI)…

You can also support skepticism by joining and supporting your local skeptical group. [link]
