- Facebook Testing Subscriptions to Other People; This Will Change How We Use Facebook
- [ReadWriteWeb - by Marshall Kirkpatrick]
Facebook has confirmed that it is testing a new feature that will allow any user to subscribe to notifications of another user’s activities through the same interface that new comments and accepted friend requests appear in now.
I know that, from a certain angle, this is just facilitating what was already possible. However, from MY angle–Facebook is already a nightmarish mishmash of insecure and confused semi-communication. Strangers subscribing to my public posts on Dreamwidth or Livejournal? Sure, bring it on! My born-again cousins subscribing to my Facebook activities? HELL NO. Or at least, I’d say hell no if I actually used Facebook more than once in a blue moon.
Thank goodness I’ve never been stalked by an ex.
