If I had ridiculous amounts of money and a less focused sense of my priorities, I would probably end up collecting dozens of Tarot decks. They’re often pretty, and they randomly inspire creative problem-solving, and they’re complex enough to keep the monkey-mind busy for a while.
Yesterday I picked up Shapeshifter Tarot (deck & book) by Conway/ Knight. I didn’t really have time to get to know the deck thoroughly, but I looked at all the pictures and drew out a random card (8 of Cups, which in this deck is called The Quest). First impression: the card stock seems a bit flimsy, but at least they are small enough for me to shuffle. I expect that this will be an excellent deck for dealing with life transformations.
This is my fourth deck; I also own a Thoth deck (somewhat damaged), a tiny Art Nouveau deck (the Lo Scarabeo version)
, and an Origins deck.
Mind you, I still can’t be bothered to memorize the card meanings. (But see paragraph 1, sentence 2.)
